September 6, 2007 South Korea 8 Bangladesh 0 Asian Games champions South Korea took their appointed place in the semi-final of the Asia Cup Hockey Tournament beating Bangladesh 8-0. Though China and Korea finished on an identical ten points, the Koreans had a better goal average of plus seven against China. Korea now play Malaysia in the semi-finals. Malaysia are the Pool A toppers. Jang Jong Hyun was the star scorer for Korea slamming in four goals with Kang Moon finding the net twice. The other scorers were Yoon Sung and Kim Jong. The Korean coach was happy that the team made it to the last four. “We are confident of the semi-final against Malaysia,” said Myung Jun Cho. South Korea who have already qualified for the Beijing Olympics are taking the Asia Cup as a means of exposure for some junior players and to also try and experiment with various methods of play.
