Sri Lanka 9 Thailand 1
Sri Lanka recorded their first victory in the 2007 Asia Cup beating Thailand 9-1 in a Pool B match here on Wednesday. For Thailand this was their fourth consecutive defeat in the tournament.
Lanka scored four times in the first half, the opening goal coming from Gazally. After that, Anju Hewage, Hettiarachchi and Karunarathne added to the tally before both teams went out for the break.
Lanka added five more goals in the second half. Thailand also scored in the 60th minute when Sadkorn converted a penalty corner.
Sri Lanka now have a match against China on Thursday while Thailand play India to wrap up their Pool engagements.
