Former Asia Cup champions South Korea had an easy outing against Sri Lanka
crushing them 12-2 in their opening match of the 2007 Asia Cup on Friday.
At the break, Korea led 6-0 with the second half promising a rout. But credit to
Lanka, they didn’t fade away but kept pegging away, looking for breaks and twice
managed to score.
Korea took the lead in the 3rd minute when Oh Dae Keun managed to streak past
the Lankan defence and start the scoring with a well placed field goal.
By the 24th minute, the Lankan resistance had been broken as Korea fired in five
more walking off at the break with a 6-0 lead.
By the 46th minute, it was 9-0 before the sparse crowd cheered a Lankan goal in
the 52nd minute; MM Gazalli managed to sneak in a field attempt past the Korean

Stung by the Lankan goal, Korea scored thrice taking the score to 12-1. But
Lanka had some fuel left in the tank to snatch a second goal.
